This week marks National Apprenticeship Week 2020, which is an important week that showcases all the great things you can achieve when you complete an apprenticeship. Here at 2 Start, we deeply believe in the continuous development of people and helping people achieve their goals. That’s why we recently recruited Will, who has been our Digital Marketing Apprentice since last September.
We want to spread the word about apprenticeships and how important they can be, that is why we have put together a few questions for Will to answer about all thing’s apprenticeships.
Why did you choose to complete an apprenticeship?
I chose to complete an apprenticeship because it is a fantastic opportunity for me to start earning a wage, whilst being able to receive training in a specific field. Additionally, university wasn’t something I wanted to do, so to me, the best option after college was to complete an apprenticeship.
What skills have you learnt since starting your apprenticeship in September?
Since September I have learnt a number of different skills which include those within the specific topic of digital marketing, as well as how to behave in a professional working environment. Starting an apprenticeship has introduced me to so many new people both at work and college which has improved my people skills massively and helped me get better at working & communicating within a team.
Additionally, doing an apprenticeship has introduced me to the world of digital marketing and has allowed me to learn so many skills that I believe will help me a lot in my career.
What would you say to those who are unsure about completing an apprenticeship?
I would 100% recommend completing an apprenticeship because it gives you so many opportunities to progress your knowledge and start the foundations for your career. Also, you can earn while you learn which introduces you to working life.
Some people have the stereotype that apprentices are made to do all the awful jobs and make the teas but that is completely false in my opinion as I complete extremely fulfilling and complex tasks daily.
