Use of lifting accessories

Module 6 – Use of lifting accessories

It is important to establish the weight of the load before making a lift.

The weight of any load should be confirmed before making a lift, and operators should never lift a load if the weight is unknown.

This module will also cover a number of factors and the safe usage of a number of different pieces of equipment, including:

  • Observations relevant to all types of slings
  • Chain slings
  • Wire Rope Slings
  • Round, Fibre Rope, and Flat Webbing Slings
  • Lifting Beams, Spreaders, and Frames

You will be taught about best use practices, the do’s and don’ts of using these slings, and an overview of each piece of equipment. There is a lot of information to cover within this module, all of which is important to understand and have a good depth of knowledge on.

It is important to remember, ‘If in doubt, don’t lift’.
