We have the following courses that are CPC approved:
- Driver Essentials – By the end of this course, students will be able to answer questions on how long they are legally allowed to drive for, the correct use of a tachograph and be aware of the working limits under the working time directive.
- Driving Principles – On completion of this course students will be able to demonstrate a greater awareness of vulnerable road users, operating vehicles within their limits and the penalties that can be issued for noncompliance.
- Emergency First Aid & Health and Safety – At the end of this course students will be able to demonstrate what action should be taken when confronted with someone requiring emergency first aid treatment. Students will successfully be able to identify different types of illnesses and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Mental Health, well-being & Driver Behaviour – The course teaches about the importance of good mental health. It focuses on some mental health conditions that may be encountered and what to look for. You will then go on to look at other general areas of well-being, for example, the importance of healthy eating, including the way these impact driving behaviour. This will include how to protect yourself in road rage incidents.
- Vehicle Defects & Driver Licencing – By the end of this course students will be able to identify the types of checks that drivers need to complete on their vehicles. They will also be able to identify the main features of the driver’s licence and understand the licence coding system. Students should also be able to answer questions on safe and fuel-efficient driving and understand techniques involved in reducing fuel consumption.
These courses can also be purchased as a standalone course which will award you 7hrs towards the 35hrs of your CPC qualification.

Full CPC 35 Hours Course
CPC training for driving an HGV is a key part of the training process and requires you to complete 35 hours of approved Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) training as a new HGV driver or 35 hours of HGV CPC training every 5 years as a professional HGV driver for hire or reward.
Our full 5 day course will cover the total required hours needed for CPC training.
Who requires the Driver's CPC?
Driver’s CPC
All drivers who are driving vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, or with 9 Passenger seats or more are required to do the Periodic / Driver’s CPC (as well as the initial where applicable) – 35 Hours of drivers CPC training every five years.
Before the course starts you will need to provide your driving licence number & once the course is finished, we will log your hours as normally
Exemptions –
Certain drivers do not require to have the drivers Certificate of Professional Competence – These are either based on what the vehicle is transporting, or what the vehicle is used for. Drivers are exempt if the vehicle is:
- used for non-commercial carriage of passengers or goods, for personal use;
- undergoing road tests for technical development, repair or maintenance purposes, or of new or rebuilt vehicles which have not yet been put into service; (must be driven by a qualified motor mechanic)
- used in the course of driving lessons for the purpose of enabling that person to obtain a driving licence or a Drivers CPC; (must be driven by driving instructors)
- carrying material or equipment to be used by that person in the course of his or her work, provided that driving that vehicle does not constitute the driver’s principal activity**
- with a maximum authorised speed not exceeding 45 km/h; (such as agricultural tractors)
- used by, or under the control of, the armed forces, civil defence, the fire service and forces responsible for maintaining public order;
- used in states of emergency or assigned to rescue missions.
** For example, transporting scaffolding to the drivers place of work. Driving must not become the major part of the work. IE – The work being carried out at the site of work, must be a significantly greater use of time than driving itself.
