Changes for cars & trailers
If you passed your car driving test from 1st January 1997, you will be allowed to tow trailers up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass from 15/11/21.

Until then, all current rules, procedures, and legal requirements must still be followed. This includes documentation, qualification standards, and existing test processes. Candidates, training providers, and employers should continue operating under the current guidelines until the official implementation date is confirmed and active.
Additionally, although we are aware of these upcoming changes, there have been no confirmed updates regarding test fees, application costs, or medical requirements at this stage. These are key factors for many candidates preparing to enter the industry or update their qualifications.
