If your job involves working at height with a mobile access tower, then you’ve probably heard of PASMA training. But who needs it and what does it involve?
What does PASMA mean?
PASMA stands for the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association. It’s the leading industry body for mile access towers and sets the training standard for safe tower use across the UK and beyond.
A PASMA training course is the recognised route to learning how to safety assemble, dismantle, move, inspect, and use mobile access towers.
What actually is PASMA training?
PASMA training equips delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely work with mobile access towers, this includes:
- Understanding the legal requirements and regulations
- How to correctly assemble and dismantle towers
- Carrying out pre-use inspections
- Safe relocation and adjustments of towers
- Identifying hazards and reducing risks when working at heights
Upon successful completion, delegates receive a PASMA certificate and ID card, recognised across the industry as proof of competence.

Who needs PASMA training?
Anyone who works at height using a mobile access tower, should complete PASMA training, the same with anyone who assembles or dismantles towers as part of their job and those who supervise others using them. This often includes a wide variety of industries such as construction, maintenance, cleaning and more.
What types of PASMA training courses are there?
PASMA offers a variety of courses tailored to different roles and responsibilities
- Towers for Users – Our PASMA Towers for Users course is for those who must attain the knowledge and skills to safely and accurately assemble, dismantle, alter and relocate a mobile access tower.
