Our IPAF operator training courses are 1-day and will build on your skills and knowledge on operating the Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP). From a singular operator course (choosing 1b, 3a or 3b) or book a multiple MEWP course (a combination of the 1b, 3a & 3b MEWPs) and learn how to operate these types of machinery. You will train with an experienced IPAF instructor at one of our training depots.

Course Modules
Throughout your training, you will be expected to show the following competencies throughout your course:
- Have awareness of the relevant Health & Safety Regulations
- Be aware of accident prevention and control
- Be able to identify the needs regarding personnel protection
- Be aware of the need to refer to the operating manual
- Be able to drive the MEWP safely and manoeuvre the machine as required, as well as correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a proper manner, inside and outside a building.

Course Requirements
There are no certification requirements in order to complete your training. However, You must bring the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to your course.
Ongoing Requirements
In order to keep your operators certification valid, training must be completed every five years.
Although IPAF is not a legal requirement, it is a sought-after certification that many businesses will expect operators to have. In most cases, your employer will ensure that your training is up to date.
Test Requirements
The IPAF Operator training consists of theory and practical assessments. Your theory test will cover all relevant regulations and legislations for working at heights with MEWPs.
After you have successfully passed the theory test, you will complete a practical demonstration of the MEWP you are training for. This will include showing that you are completing the proper checks and steps for operating the equipment.
Further Training
You can complete IPAF Demonstrator training once you have gained your operator certification for the MEWP in question. You can also upskill and complete our MEWP for Managers e-learning course if you want to manage work at heights with MEWPs.
