Meet the Team!
We opened our Worthing depot back March 2019 and, in that time, we have been training students and have seen many of them successfully pass their licence tests. If you want to know more about Worthing and what’s going on, then keep an eye out for our handy “About Worthing” series! Our first one is all about some of the trainers we have at our Worthing depot.
Meet Steve…
Wanting to pursue his passion for transport Steve went on to gain various licences in the late 1990’s before gaining his Class 1 in 2000.
In 2004 Steve successfully gained his PCV licence.
From there Steve embarked upon a career as a European tour coach driver
In 2007 Steve emigrated to Canada and quickly gained his Canadian Class 1 licence. Steve was fortunate to travel across the length and breadth of Canada and America in an 18 wheeled monster truck!
In 2012 Steve returned to the UK settling in Sussex taking up a role as a European tour coach driver again. In 2014, Steve his wife and their Labrador Alan went back to Canada and life on the open road together.
In 2017 Steve, his wife and dog returned to their hometown of Eastbourne where Steve took up employment as a tour coach driver again.
Steve previously enjoyed his role as a trainer/instructor and embarked on his training as an LGV Instructor in the early part of 2018. Shortly after he gained the NRI qualification Steve joined the 2 Start team.
Meet Robin…
Robin started in transport back in the 60’s. Starting out in a 7.5 tonne truck, transporting metal components out of Portsmouth.
When he was 21, Robin qualified for his HGV licence to drive articulated trucks. First off Robin started working out of Shoreham, transporting timber across the UK, then moved into general haulage.
Robin then went to work for Frey’s who are based in Stockholm, Sweden, running goods and materials from Stockholm to Gothenburg and back to the UK.
Robin started teaching drivers back in 1994 and has taught literally thousands of drivers since. Robin had a break from teaching in 2007 when he bought his own trucks and worked in refrigerated distribution.
In 2012, Robin sold up and joined 2 Start here in Portsmouth; Since then he’s been teaching his heart out, he was crowned Instructor of the Year 2013. He teaches everything from Car and Trailer right through to Artic and he will always see that candidates are trained right first time
