As of the 1st January 2021, HGV drivers will require a permit to enter Kent. Lorry drivers who do not have a permit will not be able to enter Kent, this rule will be enforced by Police as well as number plate recognition cameras.

Kent Access Permits will need to be applied for online in order to show that you have all the correct documents and paperwork for taking goods into Europe. Those who don’t have a Kent Access Permit may be turned away at the border.

There are major concerns over the readiness of businesses for such implementations and there are fears that this could cause major grid-lock traffic on the roads of Kent, as well as the route from Dover to Calais.

As more information is released, we will provide more updates.
