What is IPAF?
IPAF stands for ‘The International Powered Access Federation.’ They are a non-profit organisation which is owned and controlled by members. They control the safe use of powered access equipment worldwide through safety initiatives and training programmes. The organisation can provide technical advice and information and is influenced by its own members. Once you become a member, you can access practical information and a portfolio of member services. At 2 Start we provide training courses which have been tailored to give learners the safety and skills to operate this equipment.
About the courses
Training lasts up to one day depending on the course you are learning. We keep classes small to ensure our learners the attention and training to be completely confident. With this in mind, we ensure classes range from 4-10 people. Our clients can be sure they are receiving complete and comprehensive training. Our courses involve both written and practical testing. Our centres consistently receive updates to ensure all the learning we provide is up to date and the best it can be.
If this wasn’t quite what you were looking for, you may be interested in our PASMA training courses.
Some of our courses may require you to have taken another one beforehand. This is recommended for those who already have some qualifications, such as our IPAD PAV Familiarisation Training, IPAF 3a Mobile Vertical Demonstrator Training and IPAF 3b Mobile Boom Demonstrator Training. We would recommend double-checking the specific course page for this before making any bookings. You can always speak to one of our expert team if you have any further enquiries.
The PAL card
A PAL card is given to those who have been trained fully and can operate platforms successfully. It stands for Powered Access License. If you pass a training course at 2 Start the International Powered Access Federation will issue a PAL card which you can use on sites.
Training is vital for those who want to work at height. All workers need to know how to handle this machinery safely and comply with legal requirements. IPAF training ensures that within a company the right safety measures and accident prevention procedures have been put into place. It’s in everyone’s best interest to receive comprehensive IPAF training.
All our IPAF courses are created by industry experts to give platform workers everything they need to confidently operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs.) They will include everything needed for operators so it will conform to ISO 18878 ‘Mobile elevating work platforms – Operator (driver) training.’
Smart PAL card
The smart PAL card has a machine-readable chip and was created for safe and convenient use of the machinery. It means only trained professionals can access them. The chip on the card is updated with information about the owner and which specific equipment they are qualified to use. No other personal information is stored on the card in line with the data protection legislation. Smart PAL cards promote safe site use and ensure all machines are used safely. It prevents any fraudulent use and also tracks who uses the machines and when.
