What is HIAB?
A lorry mounted crane is sometimes known as its brand name, HIAB. This training teaches learners how to correctly unload from the back of a vehicle that has a lorry mounted crane attached. It is vital for users of this equipment to be fully trained to avoid accidents and keep up with legal requirements. A HIAB is a great alternative to a crane, as it can be used on one work site and then driven to other sites. This machine is an economical and helpful tool.
Why train with 2 start?
- We are constantly investing in our machines to ensure we continue to provide the best vehicles for our customers.
- We have hundreds of happy previous customers and currently have a 4.9 rating on Google.
- It’s easy to say that we are the ‘Premier Driving School’, but the proof is in the facilities offered and the results obtained by our students.
At 2 Start we offer two kinds of HIAB qualification, ALLMI and ITSSAR. These courses come in novice, experienced operator and refresher. ALLMI is the most widely-acknowledged organisation in the lorry loader industry. ITSSAR are also widely recognised within the general haulage industry focusing on mechanical handling equipment. The courses differ in that ALLMI is CSCS approved meaning it is able to deliver to construction sites and ITSSAR is the most economical option. The basic training course trains the learner to use the hook attachment. A Brick Grab, Clam Shell (also known as a bucket) and Pallet lifter can also be added to the course upon request. A remote HIAB is the act of using a remote chest pack to control the crane as appose to using the controls on the side of the machine.
What is TOPS?
The Trained Operator Passport Scheme or TOPS for short, was introduced by ITSSAR. This is a system which was created to provide a database showing all accredited operator training completed. The TOPS system can benefit you as it shows a clear record of all the training that you have completed. Additionally, it can help reduce accidents as it will show if training has been completed to a satisfactory standard.
