What is HIAB?
A HIAB and a Lorry Mounted Crane are actually the same things. HIAB is a popular brand name so the two became synonymous. This training teaches learners how to correctly unload from the back of a vehicle that has a lorry mounted crane attached. It’s vital that any person using a HIAB has the correct training to ensure no accidents occur. This is a great alternative to a crane, as it can be driven between work sites on the same day, making it more economical. Completing HIAB training can open up more work opportunities for the learner and is a valuable qualification to complete.
Why train with 2 start?
- We are constantly investing in our machines to ensure we continue to provide the best vehicles for our customers.
- We have hundreds of happy previous customers and currently have a 4.9 rating on Google.
- It’s easy to say that we are the ‘Premier Driving School’, but the proof is in the facilities offered and the results obtained by our students.
ALLMI and ITSSAR are the two HIAB qualifications. Both courses come with three levels of training depending on your expertise; novice, experienced operator and refresher. ALLMI is currently the most recognised organisation in the lorry loader industry. ITSSAR is widely recognised within the general haulage industry focusing on mechanical handling equipment. ITSSAR is more of an economical option, however, is still a valid and useful accreditation.
ALLMI is CSCS approved, therefore is able to deliver to construction sites. The basic training course gives you the knowledge and skill to use the hook attachment. Upon request, Brick Grab, Clam Shell (also known as a bucket) and Pallet lifter can also be taught during the course.
What is TOPS?
Introduced by ITSAAR, the Trained Operator Passport Scheme is sometimes shortened to TOPS. TOPS is used as a clear account of all training completed by the learner. This record is a helpful system which can prevent accidents and prove that training has been provided to a competent standard.
