The Forklift truck training courses we provide are as follows:
Powered Pallet Trucks
A powered pallet truck is typically used in a warehouse to effectively move pallets at ground level. It’s also used for loading and offloading pallets from a variety of vehicles and is also known as an electric pallet mover.
Counterbalance Forklift Truck
This is a standard forklift truck which has allows the user to drive closely to a load to pick it up. The counterbalance forklift truck is useful because it is suitable for both inside and outside use. Appropriate training to use this machine is essential because overloading can result in the vehicle tipping over.
Why train with 2 start?
- We are constantly investing in our machines to ensure we continue to provide the best vehicles for our customers.
- We have hundreds of happy previous customers and currently have a 4.9 rating on Google.
- It’s easy to say that we are the ‘Premier Driving School’, but the proof is in the facilities offered and the results obtained by our students.
Reach Forklift Truck
Reach forklift trucks are ideal for working in tight spaces and are typically used in warehouses and other indoor areas. Because they’re so agile, reach forklift trucks are good for working at certain heights and are primarily used to offload products at larger heights.
Bendi Forklift Trucks
A Bendi Forklift Truck has a “bend” in the middle of the machine between the forks and body. It is ideal for use in tight spaces. For this reason, they are sometimes named “Pivot Steer Forklift.” These machines are very easy to operate and manoeuvre, and also a comfortable ride.
A Moffett truck is a truck-mounted Forklift which is light enough to be carried on a truck, eradicating the need for Forklift delivery. The Moffett truck is economical and can perform a number of tasks that a standard Forklift can’t.
How long will my course take?
The duration of courses depends on the specific vehicle and level. All courses range from novice and experienced to refresher courses. They are broken down into novice, experienced operator and refresher. You will receive your operating card and certificate upon achievement of your chosen course.
The Trained Operator Passport Scheme is often shorted to TOPS. It was created by ITSSAR as a way of having a database showing all the training you’ve successfully completed. This system proves that a person has valid training and so can reduce accidents. The minimum age to operate a Forklift is 18.
What is a forklift licence?
Forklift training is not an actual license but simply a certification. Successful completion of your chosen course will result in receiving your operating card and certificate. There is no requirement to have a driving license to operate any kind of Forklift truck. The only occasion this would be needed is if travelling on a public highway.
I have never used a forklift before, what is the best course for me?
If you have never used a Forklift course, we would recommend a 5-day novice course. If your training is 1:1 this may be reduced to 3 days. In order to complete a 1-day refresher course, you would need a certificate. If your certificate has run out, you need to complete a 1-day refresher course. If you’ve lost it, you must do a 3-day experienced operators’ course.
Testing is broken down into 3 parts.
- Pre-shift check test
- Theory test comprising of 20 multiple choice question and 5 short explanation questions.
- Practical operational test. Driving through a chicane and 3 lifts at differing heights.
