ADR Course Info

ADR Training and moving dangerous goods by road is governed by international regulations and is strictly policed. Most European countries are signed up to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). Each country that complies with ADR implements specific safety measures through its own national legislation.

The purpose of ADR is to ensure that dangerous goods (including clinical and other dangerous waste) being carried by road can cross international borders freely, as long as goods, vehicles and drivers comply with its provisions. ADR has been in force since 1968 and is administered by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). It’s updated every 2 years to take account of technological advances.

Driver ADR training certificates required under ADR

Under the European Agreement on ADR, drivers of vehicles with tanks and certain tank components, and some drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods in packages, must hold a special vocational certificate, sometimes referred to informally as an ‘ADR Certificate’.

All drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods must attend an approved basic ADR training course. These courses equip drivers with information and tools so that they:

are aware of the hazards in the carriage of dangerous goods

can take steps to reduce the likelihood of an incident taking place

can take all necessary measures for their own safety and that of the public and the environment to limit the effects of any incident that does occur

have individual practical experience of the actions they will need to take

Elements Covered

This course covers:

Safe packaging, handling, loading and stowage of the radioactive materials

Hazards related to ionising radiation

The necessary measures to execute in the event of an accident involving radioactive materials

2 Start training Ltd are members of The National Dangerous Goods Training Consortium. A nationwide network of professional training schools providing high standards of training delivered only by experienced instructors.

Duration

The length of your ADR Class 7 course will depend on your specific requirements and current skill levels. Our ADR Class 7 course is usually a 1-day course.

Locations

This course is available at all of our depots which includes Portsmouth, Southampton, Reading and Worthing locations, covering Hampshire, Berkshire and West Sussex areas.

This course can also be completed at your site, using your equipment and facilities. To complete your training on one of your sites there are some requirements that you need to reach: you need to have a classroom big enough for all the candidates taking part in the course and all delegates will be required to wear PPE as per the company’s internal risk assessments.

I attended the car to C+E course. Had the best experience from knowing nothing to passing my test first time all thanks to Phil my instructor, the knowledge and skills he gave me during the two weeks was second to none. Thanks to the whole team at 2 Start as they were all happy to help through the whole process. Whenever I need to do another course they will be the first people I will contact. Five stars isn’t enough.

I completed my car to C+E Fast Track with Alex at Theale and passed first time! I'm in no doubt this was down to expert instruction by Alex who was fantastic throughout my two week course. A professional, knowledgeable instructor who calmly guided me through the process from scratch to test. I would highly recommend 2 Start to anyone wanting to learn how to drive cat C or C+E and no doubt anything else. They have great equipment, facilities and instructors and will be the first choice for me if I look to add any more categories to my license and for CPC training.

I had a really good time with Roy C from 2Start learning how to drive a rough terrain forklift. I thought I had quite a lot of driving experience but learning to drive the rough terrain forklift was one of the most challenging thing I have done for a while. Ray C is a great teacher and simplified the complex process of lifting and moving objects with the forklift by breaking down the various tasks contained in the test into manageable sections so that it was easier to learn. I highly recommend 2start Training and Roy C as a great instructor.

Some of the instructors are 5 star guys, however one of them is not fit for this job, brings his own issues to work and takes it out on his students.There's also another thing, they are 40min away from the test centre and test routes so your 3-4h driving session is almost half spent on driving to and from the routes.So, if you don't mind driving 40-50% of the time off the test route and having an instructor shout at you and put you down, then this provider could be ideal for you.

Passed my C+E today. I've held my C licence for 20 years and it that time I picked up some bad habits. I spent 3 days with Greg then the last 2 with Jon. Between them they fettled my skills. I started the test with a good feeling of confidence. Both instructors were true professional. They are 100% honest in there assessment then they work with you at your pace to address any issues you may have. I feel they have a true passion for their job. The facilities or clean and tidy as are the vehicles. Every aspect is professional. I would have no hesitation recommending 2 Start.

Past my category c driving license with rob @ 2 start. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Rob was very calm and gave very clear instructions and advice to improve my driving. He gave grate feedback and positive encouragement. Was happy to answer any questions and concerns I had. Plus I passed my test 1st time with the one week of training. The site is clean and tidy and the lorry’s are kept very clean and tidy as well. Everyone staff member I met at the depot where polite, friendly & approachable. Unfortunately Rob wasn’t present for my test but the depot manager who took me to test was just as polite and friendly. And Rob even took the time to congratulate me after passing.
